Yu-Yen Chen2021

Yu-Yen Chen studied and collaborated with Alexandre Moutouzkine, winner of the Rubinstein Piano Competition, in New York in 2014. He was highly praised by pianist Arkady Aronov as a "gifted pianist with strong technical resources, impressive temperament, and imagination," noting his "professional attention to the texts of compositions."

Mr. Chen holds a bachelor's degree from the National Taipei University of the Arts and double master's degrees from the National Tainan University of the Arts and the Manhattan School of Music. Throughout his career, he has won numerous awards, including first prize in the piano category of the university entrance examination in 1995. On the international stage, he secured first prize at the 16th Città di Barletta Young Musicians International Competition in Italy and second prize at the Asian International Piano Competition in Malaysia.

He has performed solo recitals across the United States, Italy, France, Great Britain, Singapore, Malaysia, and China. In 2017, he was invited for an exclusive interview on Taiwan Philharmonic Radio’s Young Artist Showcase. In 2019, he was featured in a special segment by Sanli News titled "Yu-Yen Chen’s Overseas Piano Edge," where he shared his extensive international teaching and learning experiences.

In addition to his performance career, Mr. Chen has rich pedagogical experience. During his time teaching in Singapore, he was recognized as the "Best Teacher" of the Aureus Academy. Beyond classical music, he explores interdisciplinary work combining music, literature, and theater, and established the "N9 in Music" crossover ensemble. He aims to compose multi-layered sounds that evoke an associative world, creating a brand-new musical style and aesthetic.
